| “Though my daughter has had some theater experiences, her coaching from the LifeACT Studio has been her first formal training in acting. In just one month Mike was able to prepare her for an important audition, where she performed with complete confidence. He continues to enhance her knowledge of acting technique, her ability to analyze a part and character, and to build her confidence and stage presence. She looks forward to every session, has great respect for Mike, and a deeper love of acting. I feel so fortunate to have found such a well-trained professional who is also a gifted teacher.”

TC1001 - Creative Theater Games for Kids
Designed for children ages 6-12. Focus is on fun in this high-energy class. To the child it’s a chance to cut loose, have fun and “be a ham”. To the observant adult it’s a class that allows a child to develop communication skills through role-playing games, intelligence through improvisation games, creativity through story telling games and cooperation through team building games. For instance, your child will create their own crazy character, host their own talk show, change fairy tale plot lines and design their own inventions – just to name a few of the activities!
TC1002 - “Improv” Comedy for Kids
Ideal for pre-teens. Students will learn to create characters and situations “on the spot”. They will also learn the elements of what makes good improvisation: the ability to listen, observe, relax and let the mind flow. There will also be an emphasis on: creating characters; how to begin, sustain and end an effective scene; and the elements of what makes something funny and why. There will be a performance by the students at the course’s conclusion.
TC1003 - “Improv” Comedy for Teens and Adults
Participants will learn to create characters and situations “on the spot”. They will also learn the elements of what makes good improvisation: the ability to listen, observe, relax and let the mind flow. There will also be an emphasis on: creating characters; how to begin, sustain and end an effective scene; and the elements of what makes good comedy and why it is funny. There will be a performance by the actors at the course’s conclusion.
TC1004 - Sketch Comedy for Kids
This course, designed for pre-teens, allows the student to fine-tune a self-written comedy piece. Whether your child is interested in acting or writing – this course provides a creative outlet. Where “Improv” Comedy works more with the actor’s creative quick-thinking - Sketch Comedy relies on the “fleshing out” of characters, making compelling choices and engaging an audience through a dynamic story line. Just like the “Improv” Comedy course, students will become well acquainted with the elements of comedy. There will be a performance at the course’s conclusion.
TC1005 - Sketch Comedy for Teens and Adults
This course will allow the actor to delve more into the fine-tuning of a written comedy piece. “Sketch Comedy” is recommended for both actors and writers interested in the comedy genre. Where “Improv” Comedy works more with the actor’s creative “quick-thinking” - Sketch Comedy relies on the “fleshing out” of characters, making compelling choices on paper and engaging an audience through dynamic story line. Just like the “Improv” Comedy course, participants will become well acquainted with the elements of comedy. There will be a performance at the course’s conclusion.
TC1006 - Comedy Comprehensive for Kids
A compilation of skills taught in both the “Improv” and Sketch Comedy courses. Students will gain an appreciation for the elements of comedy and of creating compelling characters. There will be a performance at the course’s conclusion.
TC1007 - Comedy Comprehensive for Teens and Adults
A compilation of skills taught in both the “Improv” and Sketch Comedy courses. Actors will gain an appreciation for the elements of comedy and of creating compelling characters. There will be a performance at the course’s conclusion.
TC1008 - Scene Study 1: Character Workshop
The actor will choose scenes that will provide a compelling challenge emphasizing character choices. “Scene Study 1” delves into the actor’s “intellectual world”: What are the compelling choices being made to create a character? What clues does the playwright give us in regard to these choices? What is the nature of the characters’ relationships to one another? In “Character Workshop” the actor will learn the ‘who’, ‘where’, ‘how’, ‘when’ and ‘why’ of asking powerful questions, both of themselves and of their fellow actors. The actor will be given a journal to chronicle their growth.
TC1009 - Scene Study 2: Emotional Truth
Building on the skills developed in “Character Workshop”, the actor is challenged in this course to explore his or her “emotional world”. This can sometimes be the actor’s greatest challenge – How to tap into an emotional state AT WILL. In “Emotional Truth” we delve into sensory memory and focus exercises. The course’s aim is to help the actor “come on full” and sustain that emotional energy throughout the scene. The actor will be given a journal to chronicle their growth.
TC1010 - Scene Study 3: Living in the Moment
After completing “Character Workshop” and “Emotional Truth”, the actor now focuses on mastering these skills easily and effortlessly. The actor continues to work on dramatic scenes selected to enhance artistic growth. The focus is on “letting go” and enjoying the experience of being an actor fully engaged in a character and scene. Journal chronicling of the actor’s growth throughout the “Scene Study” process is also a course feature.
TC1011 - Scene Study Comprehensive
The participant will gain an appreciation for all three Scene Study courses. As the actors develop a dramatic scene, there will be a light emphasis on “intellectual choices”, “emotional truth” and “living easily and effortlessly in the moment”. The participants will be asked to keep a journal of their progress and personal observations.
TC1012 - Meisner 1: Zen and the Art of the Repetition Game
This course was designed with the actor looking for high attainment in mind. With an emphasis on Meisner’s repetition technique, the actor will get to know oneself intimately. Focus will be on exercises intended to relax the critical mind while intensifying the “living in the moment” experience. Please note that a certain degree of patience is a pre-requisite for this course.
TC1013 - Meisner 2: Application to Improvised Scenework
Meisner’s repetition technique is used to build a scene. Emphasis is on creating on-stage chemistry, intensifying the meaning behind a subtext, and KNOWING the character’s point of view as opposed to speculating. The actor will also begin applying the technique to monologue work.
TC1014 - Meisner 3: Application to Written Scenework
The actor applies the Meisner Technique to scenes from dramatic literature. Course will require the participant to master a contemporary monologue, a classical monologue and scenes from both contemporary and classical plays.
TC1015 - Meisner Comprehensive
Course combines elements of Meisner 1, 2 and 3 to provide the actor with an appreciation for the technique and its applications.
TC1016 - Shakespeare Scene Study
Actors will develop an appreciation and sense of mastery over Shakespeare’s material. Upon completion the actor will have worked with one sonnet, one monologue from either a comedy or a tragedy, and one scene from either a comedy or tragedy.
TC1017 - Audition Technique
This course is designed to help the actor give a clear and confident audition for both the stage and the screen. The actor will be prepared and well versed with the following upon completion the course:
2 Contrasting Monologues;
2 Contrasting Musical Selections (upon the actor’s choice to pursue musical work);
A Resume’;
Experience with Cold Readings;
Experience with Commercial Auditions;
Experience with the Screen Test.
There will be a “mock audition” at the course’s conclusion to allow the actor to practice the skills learned.
TC1018 - Monologue Workshop
The actor will learn the elements of what makes an effective monologue performance. A focus will be placed on the mastery of four monologues (two classical, two contemporary) to be chosen by the participating actor.
TC1019 - Customized Class or Camp
We can customize an actor’s workshop series or camp for your organization based on your needs. For example: LifeACT recently designed a two-week summer camp for pre-teens with Village Productions of Pottstown, PA called “Journeys Through Time and Other Worlds”. Featuring a combination of skills from our “Scene Study Comprehensive”, “Comedy Comprehensive”, “Audition Technique”, the “Stage Presence” creativity workshop and “Intro to Creativity Coaching”, this particular camp had presented adapted scenes from popular film and literature.
Please note – LifeACT Acting Classes or LifeACT Creativity Workshops can be offered through the Life Acting Studio. If you don’t have a sponsoring organization but have five or more people interested in a class or workshop, please let us know! We might run the class through Life Act Studios!
